Today the 2012 Polaris Long List was revealed. The Weeknd’s “Echoes Of Silence” has been nominated for the 2012 Polaris Music Prize. This is The Weeknd’s second nomination with his first being “House Of Balloons” in 2011.

For those that don’t already know: “Polaris is a not-for-profit organization that honours, celebrates and rewards creativity and diversity in Canadian recorded music. Polaris recognizes and markets albums of the highest artistic integrity, without regard to musical genre, professional affiliation, or sales history. It is adjudicated by selected music journalists, broadcasters and bloggers.”

The next round of nominations, known as the Polaris Short List, will be revealed on July 17 and then the winner of the 2012 Polaris Music Prize will be selected on September 24. Stay tuned for updates.
